At age 97 1/2, my mother is still driving her car. She doesn’t go far anymore, but she does drive often. In fact, last year, she had to renew her driver’s license ––and did so for five years! She told me, “Can you believe that I could still be driving at 101?!”

At that time, I told her that I may not want her to be driving at that advanced age, but Barbara Dunning from Plymouth, Michigan is, and she’ll be 105 in June!

Now at 104, she’s not driving a little, power-steering compact car. She’s steering a huge 1930 Packard 740 Roadster that drives like a truck, stick shift and all! The car was the first 100-point winner from the Classic Car Club of America.

This petite, 5-foot tall woman is in great physical shape to be able to handle a car of this size and weight. Her mental faculties seem very sharp, too.

She also changes the oil and spark plugs, polishes the car, and has a stable of other favorite vehicles, including a 2003 Cadillac Seville, a 1975 Cadillac Eldorado and a 1966 Cadillac DeVille.
